Husband to International songstress, Celine Dion, Rene Angelil has died at the age of 73. Rene died in the early hours of today January 14th. He was diagnosed with throat cancer in 1998. His health got so bad last year that Celine took a leave of absence from her Las Vegas show at Caesars Palace. Sources close to Celine say Rene's death was completely unexpected because recently he'd felt much better. He and Celine have children together...a 14-year-old and 5-year-old twins. He also has 3 other children from a previous marriage. May his soul rest in peace, amen.

An Oregon man convicted of attempted murder said he wanted to get married before he went to prison, so the judge who sentenced him agreed to preside over the courtroom wedding Friday, local media reported. A Portland jury had convicted 24-year-old Tyrone Allen on charges including attempted murder after police said he shot at a rival gang member in March of last year. The conviction carries a minimum prison sentence of 10 years.  But before his sentencing, Allen told his defense attorney that he wanted to marry his longtime friend Trisha Romero that day, according to KOIN. “They were happy,” attorney Alicia Hercher told the news station. She reportedly asked Judge Gregory Silver if he could stick around for the wedding, and he said yes. Prosecutors didn’t object, but they didn’t stay for the ceremony. FIFA's emergency committee decided to dismiss Jerome Valcke from the organisation after some ethics charges were brought against him over world cup ticket sales. FIFA sent out a press release which stated: The FIFA emergency committee decided to dismiss Jerome Valcke from the position of FIFA secretary general with immediate effect. Jerome Valcke is therefore no longer the secretary general of FIFA. ''The employment relationship between FIFA and Jerome Valcke has also been terminated. The duties of the secretary general will continue to be assumed by the acting secretary general, Dr Markus Kattner." Valcke is facing a nine-year ban from FIFA after an ethics investigation into several alleged offences including being connected to black market sales of World Cup tickets.
